If you want to apply for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, you will need to fill out an application form and submit it to the Income Tax Department. The application form, called the Form 49A, is available on the Income Tax Department's website.
The process of applying for a PAN card is relatively simple. However, there are a few things that you should keep in mind before you start the application process. First, make sure that you have all of the required documents. Second, fill out the form completely and accurately. Third, submit the form to the Income Tax Department.
Once you have submitted the form, the Income Tax Department will process your application and issue you a PAN card. The PAN card will be sent to your registered address.
How to Apply for a PAN Card Online?
You can submit your PAN application online through one of two portals. The first is the NSDL portal, and the second is the UTIITSL portal. After visiting the official websites of any of these portals, you must complete one of these forms: Form 49A (for Indian citizens) or Form 49AA (for non-Indian citizens) (for foreigners).
When you log in to either the NSDL or UTIITSL web portals, follow the steps outlined below.
Applying for a PAN card through the NSDL website:
1. visit the NSDL website www.onlineservices.nsdl.com and click on the ‘Apply for PAN’ link.
2. select the ‘Application Type’ as ‘New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)’.
3. select the ‘Category’ as your choice
4. Fill in your information carefully after that
Choose the title (Shri, Smt, or Kumari) that you want to appear on your PAN card
5. Fill in the blanks with your last name/surname, first name, and middle name ( if there is any)
6. Choose your DOB/Incorporation/Formation date in the format shown below – DD/MM/YY
7. Keep a record of your current email address so you don’t miss out on any PAN-card-related information
8. Enter your current mobile number
9. Tick mark on the guidelines
Submit your application after entering the CAPTCHA code
10. After submitting you have recieved a token number on your register e-mail.
11. Now upload the required documents like identity proof and address proof.
12. pay the application fee of Rs. 93 (excluding GST) through credit/debit card or net banking.
13. After successfully submitting your PAN card application, you will receive an acknowledgement number page. Take a printout and save it for future use
14. After your documents have been successfully validated, you will be sent your PAN card to your registered Address and email address .
Apply for a PAN Card through UTIITSL website:
1. Visit the official website of UTIITSL www.utiitsl.comand select the ‘For PAN Cards’ option
2. Click on ‘Apply PAN Card’
3. You will now be redirected to a new page with options such as PAN card as an Indian Citizen, PAN card as a Foreign Citizen, Download e-PAN, etc.
4. Select ‘PAN Card as an Indian Citizen’ or ‘PAN Card as a Foreign Citizen’ from the drop-down menus
5. Click on the option that best describes your citizenship, then on ‘Apply for a New PAN Card (Form 49A),’ ‘Regenerate Online PAN Application (Form 49A),’ or ‘Download Blank PAN Form 49A.’
6. Select ‘Apply for a New PAN Card.’
Following that, you will be redirected to Form 49A or Form 49AA, where you will have two options for filling out the form: ‘Physical Mode’ and ‘Digital Mode.
7. Click on ‘Physical Mode,’ and then submit the signed application to the nearest UTIITSL office for a physical copy of the PAN card
8. Fill in all of the required information, such as ‘Applicant Status,’ and select your preferred PAN card mode
9.Once done, submit the application
Make the required payment for your PAN Card on the following screen, using a DD, cheque, internet banking, credit card, or debit card
11.Following payment, you will be sent a soft copy of an acknowledgement paper
Now, take a printout of the acknowledgement paper, paste your passport-sized photograph on it, and sign it in black ink
12.Send the acknowledgement receipt, along with copies of the identity and residence proofs, to the Income Tax Department within 15 days of submitting the online application
After the documentation process is completed, your PAN number will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
